About Me
Thank you for your interest in my designs. I bought my first embroidery machine in 2005 and I was hooked. I love the combination of right and left brain thinking involved in creating a piece of art using technology. I’ve used Brother, Bernina, and Janome machines but my current favorite is a Babylock. I use Embird Studio, Generations and Pattern Maker to digitize my designs. I am a member of Artistic Threadworks, Nita’s Place and a variety of Yahoo groups.
My digitizing philosophy is similar to the “Golden Rule” – if it’s something I don’t like, then I don’t “do it” to others. So I work hard to avoid unnecessary color changes, tiny jump stitches and stitching over jumps while maintaining the look of the original artwork.
I am still defining my embroidery style so you will see a variety of different types of designs as I try new things. I love early American style folk artwork, Jacobean embroidery, the look of hand embroidery and layers of color. Some of my favorite complex designs with layers of color, realistic fur and feathers come from BFC-Creations and Outback Embroidery.
On the non-embroidery front, I “retired” from the biotechnology world about 6 years ago to stay at home with my children, currently 6 and 4 years old. Along with my darling husband, I also have teen-age step-daughter, grown kids in their 20’s and a 2 year old grandson. My son-in-law is in the Navy. He recently completed EOD training in Florida and is now assigned to Coronado Naval Air Station. I am very pleased to have my daughter, son-in-law and grandson living locally again. My oldest son lives in San Francisco and has his own website at www.djtako.com. If you love techno electronic music check it out.
